Some of your Questions:

The team from S&G Construction understand that choosing the right Remodeling or General Contractor is the most difficult decision to be made in the Remodeling or New Build process. Here are some of the more common questions we are asked with most every project we do. Hopefully this will help clarify some of your up front concerns and make your project a little less stressful.

Starting My Project
Call us at (315-283-4805) as soon as you have made the decision to remodel or build. We will return your call as soon as possible and we can plan a time to come discuss your project. This will get things started.
Every project is a little different from the smallest to the most complex. Once we come to discuss your project and your vision, we can better help you with your design plans. Depending on the size of the project you may need an architect and we can help guide you with this as well.
The scope and magnitude of your project will determine your payment structure. For remodels we generally ask for 15% down and we negotiate a weekly or bi-weekly payment schedule. For New Builds we will work with both you and your bank as the Project GC to schedule draws on the construction loan all along the way. We will help you coordinate all the details.
Depending on the scope of your project, yes, you may need to pre-order materials. Regardless, if you are doing a New Build or a Bathroom or Kitchen remodel it is beneficial to have all your accessories picked out and ordered to allow us to mainatin our build schedule. Sometimes this task can be a somewhat difficult and daunting task. We are happy to help and can make suggestions all along the way.
Not all projects require an architect. A lot is determined by project scope and the overall estimated project cost $$. We can certainly help guide you in the appropriate direction when we meet to discuss your project.
Building Permits & Building Codes
We generally reccommend that a building permit be pulled for any project that involves infrastructure work. Most villages and townships have strict guidelines that will help guide you in the construction and remodel process. Again, not all projects will require a building permit, but when in doubt, we recommend that you call your local municipality and inquire. We can help you in obtaining the necessary paperwork to complete your project.
We enjoy working with you hand-in-hand all the way! We can help with pulling your project permits and coordinating all of your inspections! Just let us know what you need and we are there to help makle it happen!
We can coordinate all the inspections for you! This is one less headache you will have to deal with over the course of your project! Depending on the scope of your project details and the local municipality, there are various inpsections that may be needed. We contact the all the inspectors personally and coordinate the inspection appointments. We keep you abreast of all developments all along the way.
A code violation is a rareity with us, but sometimes you will come acrosss an inspector that likes to have some part of the project performed in a very specific manner. If and when this happens, we accomadate the inspector's wishes immediately! We make sure everyone is happy!
Coordinating the project
This can be done numerous ways. Sometimes the customer likes to handle their project to some degree. Other times the customer likes to turn over all the build, design and general GC decisions to the contractor. Either way, we work with you to make sure your project gets completed on time and within budget. We strive to produce a High Quality Job! We can help coordinate your entire project right down to the smallest detail.
Yes, on occassion we do subcontract pieces of a project. For example; you may desire to build a new home with a pre-poured basement from Superior Walls. In this case, Superior Walls will pre-fabricate the entire basememt and foundation system. From a Design-Build perspective, we simply oversee the operation to make sure a quality job is performed. Although we do it all, depending on the size of your new build we may also subcontract specialty things like sheetrock finishing and painting or HVAC installations. This allows us to bring your new home in on budget and more often than not, ahead of schedule!
Simply put, we make it right! Your satisfaction is our ultimate goal!
You certainly can be! We actually prefer it if you are around as often as possible. This allows us to bounce ideas off of you and at the same time, you have the opportunity to inspect every detail and see your dream project turn into reality!
Wrapping up & Completion
Yes! When we wrap up your project we take all the unused supplies back to the store to receive a credit. We then apply this credit to your account and final balance.
When we leave the jobsite you will never know we were there! We try to leave a jobsite cleaner than it was when we first arrived!
Simply give us a call and we will prioritize any issue you may have. We will return your call the very same day!
Yes! If we end up doing electrical work there will be a final electrical inspection for example. Also, depending on your project, there may be a final inspection to obtain your Certificate of Occupancy. We help coordinate all of these details for you. You do not have to worry about a thing!
